With 2016 in the rear view mirror, the city of Soledad’s City Council enters the New Year welcoming two new members to the city council.

Having won their elections last November, Anna Velasquez and Carla Stewart, have begun their tenure as the newest members of the city of Soledad’s City Council.

“Given their deep connection to our community, I am looking forward to collaborating with them as we continue moving our city forward,” said Fred Ledesma, Mayor, City of Soledad. “ As the Gateway to the Pinnacles, we continue pushing policies sand initiatives that will continue making us a leader in Monterey County.”

Having lived in Soledad her whole life, Councilmember Velasquez developed a professional track record in local government that spans over 20 years.

Most recently, she served the city of Salinas as a Community Development Analyst. While serving in Salinas, she also served as a Neighborhood Services Coordinator where she served as a resource and liaison for neighborhoods by facilitating and building partnerships. Councilmember Velasquez received her BS in Criminology from California State University, Fresno.

Councilmember Stewart has lived in Monterey County for nearly 20 years, spending the last 13 years actively volunteering in Soledad with various community events, committees and organizations.
