Mission Statement

Promoting and maintaining standards that preserve and enhance the quality of life for all those who live, work and visit the City of Soledad.

Function

Code Enforcement's main purpose is to provide continued health, safety, and welfare for all city residents. This enhanced Code enforcement program's emphasize has been on public education and voluntary compliance. The primary duties include assisting residents in improving their properties by pointing out unsafe and unsightly conditions, which are detrimental to our community as a whole.

The City of Soledad Municipal Codes were developed to protect our neighborhoods, as well as to prevent the unsafe and unsightly use of property. These codes are enforced by the City's Code Enforcement Officer. The CEO strives to maintain the quality of our neighborhoods by working with the property owners to ensure compliance with existing City regulations.


Goals

The goal of the City of Soledad's Code enforcement program is to eliminate blight and improve the appearance of business and residential areas in order to assure our community remains a place where all who live, work or visit experience a sense of pride and well being. This goal can best be achieved by practicing a humanistic approach. We seek to obtain compliance voluntarily whenever possible. Many violators are unaware that they are doing something in violation of the City's laws and ordinances; therefore, a helping hand approach may be better received than the punitive approach.
