Mission statement
The Economic Development Department is responsible for the marketing and growth of the City.

Departmental Functions

The Economic Development Department is responsible for the following:

Marketing the City
Attracting new businesses and retain existing ones
Working with developers to complete successful commercial, industrial and residential projects
Facilitating the revitalization of the Downtown
Researching grants and funding opportunities to improve services
Supporting local businesses
Developing and conducting programs to improve and increase affordable housing
Conducting redevelopment activities to eliminate blight

Major Accomplishments

Revitalization of the Downtown
Development of the new Mission Soledad Shopping Center
Completion of the new Gabilan Plaza Retail Center
Building of new sidewalks for children to safely walk to school
Installation of new playground equipment at four (4) parks
Initiation of the First Time Homebuyers Program
Creation of the Housing Rehabilitation Program
