Fire Department Apparatus


The City of Soledad owns 7 pieces of apparatus utilized for response to a variety of calls for service. The first class type one apparatus is a 2000 Ferrera 1,000 gallon, six-crew member close cab engine. The next type I reserve engine is a 1988 Ford 8000 series, 750 gallon, five-crew member open cab engine. The department also has a 1980 Van Pelt 500 gallon, 55 ft. aerial ladder open cab truck and a 2000 Ford 450, 200 gallon, six-crew member type 4 engine. The Utility Truck is a 1997 Ford Cheyenne 2500 series,  and the department also has a 1988 Ford L9000 series, 2500 gallon Water Tender. The 2007 Ford Expedition is driven by the Fire Chief and is also used as the Incident Command Post. The fire station was built in 1953 and has a two parking bays that accommodate all fire apparatus. All fire apparatus equipment is operated out of one station by approximately 20 paid per call firefighters, three career Fire Engineers, three career firefighters, 12 part time firefighters and a full time Fire Chief. Located in station is the Fire Chiefs office, staffs office, a day room, a kitchen, bathroom and shower facility and sleeping quarters for 4 firefighters per shift.
