Hydrant Maintenance
The City of Soledad Fire Department has a comprehensive Hydrant Maintenance
Program to insure the proper maintenance and operations of fire hydrants throughout
the fire jurisdiction.
Each fire hydrant is inspected twice
per year in April and November. In each inspection, hydrants are cleared of
all weeds, brush and other obstructions within 3 feet of the hydrant. Each
hydrant is visually inspected to determine if any defects exist, such as cracked
hydrants, caps or gaskets. The hydrant and curbsides are also visually inspected
to determine if painting is needed. All hydrant repairs are reported immediately.
The Departments goal is to keep each hydrant in a state of readiness in the
event of an emergency.
