Mission Statement
"The Mission of the Soledad Fire Department is to provide services for protection of life, property, and the environment, benefiting the customers of the City of Soledad and the Mission Soledad Rural Fire Protection District. This will be accomplished through comprehensive emergency response, code enforcement, and public education efforts."
About the departmentThe City of Soledad is the first city in South County to become a combination Paid / Volunteer Fire Department comprised of 1 career Fire Chief,  3 career Fire Engineer, 3 career Fire Fighters, 12 Part Time Fire Fighters and 25 Volunteer Firefighters, protecting approximately 17,000 people within a 97 square mile response area. Services are delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with 3 Fire Engines, 1 Ladder Truck,  1 Utility Truck, 1 Water Tender and the Chiefs vehicle.

The City of Soledad continues to increase its population with residential and commercial development, directly impacting the requests for services from the Fire Department. In 2006, the Soledad Fire Department responded to 1047 calls for service, an increase from  973 in 2005 . The Department expects to respond to over 1200 calls for service in the year 2007.
