Public works Department - Wastewater

Mission statement

Ensure the proper collection, treatment, and disposal of all wastewater generated by City customers as well as the California Department of Corrections prison facilities and Dole in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Department function

The department is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the City's wastewater treatment plant, maintaining wastewater collection system flow, and repairing, inspecting and testing sewer mains, manholes, service connections, monitor wells, and sewer pumping stations. The wastewater division operates and maintains two wastewater treatment plants, which are currently permitted for 4.1 MGD. The current operating permit can be found here.
