Election season is upon us and we want to make sure all our residents have the information they need to register and vote in the upcoming election. The Ballot Dropoff box just arrived today at City Hall and like last year will be one of two locations for residents to safely drop off their ballots. The other location will be at the Soledad Public Library.

PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION IMPORTANT DATES

SOLEDAD, CA –The March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is here and there are a couple of things voters should know to get vote ready. Monterey County local voter information guides and ballots will begin mailing soon. State voter information guides will also begin mailing directly from the state. All active voters will receive a ballot in the mail and in-person voting options will be available.

Important Dates:

Week of January 29      – Local Voter Information Guides begin mailing
February 5                        – Ballots mailed by this date
February 5                        – In-person voting available at the Monterey County Elections Office, 1441 Schilling Place, Salinas
February 20                       – Deadline to register to vote
February 21                        – Same day voter registration period begins
February 24                       – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday Voting at the Monterey County Elections Office
February 27                       – Last day the Elections Office will mail ballots to voters
– Last day recommended for voters to return ballots via USPS
– Elections Satellite Office, Embassy Suites, 1441 Canyon Del Rey Blvd, Seaside opens for early in-person voting
March 2-3                          – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Weekend Voting at Monterey County Elections and Embassy Suites in Seaside
March 5                             – Last day to vote in-person or return your ballot. Voting ends at 8 p.m.

Pop-up and flex voting dates and times will be announced in the coming weeks.

Voters can check their voter information, including party and address, by visiting https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/.

Write-In Nomination Period Opens on Monday, January 8th, for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election

Soledad, CA – The nomination period to qualify as a write-in candidate for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is as follows:

  • For voter-nominated offices opens January 8th and ends February 20th
  • For presidential candidates opens January 8th and ends February 13th

Candidate forms will be available only during this time and must be submitted by the deadline.
