Mission Statement

The Community Engagement Department strengthens partnerships and enhances the quality of life for residents by coordinating outreach and collaboration with community members, businesses, schools, non-profits, and other government entities. The department provides timely and accurate information to the media, community, and partners about City programs, projects, and events, while managing social media, technology, and other communication platforms to improve engagement and transparency.

In addition, the department oversees internships and volunteers, leads City events such as groundbreakings, grand openings, and the annual State of the City, and provides marketing, advertising, public relations, and creative services across programs including the Siempre Soledad General Plan Update, Capital Projects, and Transit initiatives. Through these efforts, the department fosters civic participation, builds strong community connections, and supports the City’s mission of responsive and inclusive governance.
