Construction Underway on Recycled Water Pipeline Project
Construction has officially started on the City’s Recycled Water Conveyance Pipeline System, a major sustainability initiative aimed at providing reclaimed water for irrigating City parks, landscaping, and turf areas for Soledad Unified School District. Once finished, the system will replace around 54 million gallons of potable well water each year with recycled water produced at the City’s Water Reclamation Facility. This innovative project includes: Over five miles of new conveyance pipeline, a state-of-the-art 1.5 million-gallon-per-day pump station, upgraded irrigation systems, a sophisticated hydraulic analysis using modeling software to simulate the conveyance system under a wide range of conditions, more than 180 engineering drawings, nearly 1,000 pages of specifications, and countless hours of collaboration between our engineering team and the City. Together, these efforts will allow the City and SUSD to keep irrigating sports fields even during future droughts—ensuring green, safe, and usable spaces for the community all year round. While recycled water use is common in other parts of California, Soledad will be the first agency in our region to water parks and school fields with renewable, recycled water, marking a significant step forward in local water conservation and sustainability.

WRF Metal Building
The City of Soledad is pleased to share that construction of the new Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) metal building structure has been successfully completed. This new structure represents a major milestone in the City’s ongoing efforts to expand and modernize its water infrastructure. The building will serve as a key component of the WRF’s operations, providing a secure and efficient space for essential facility equipment and staff functions. Its completion marks steady progress in the City’s commitment to supporting long-term sustainability and reliability in water services. At this stage, the only remaining task to fully finalize the project is the installation of the fire alarm system, an important safety feature designed to protect both personnel and assets. Once installed and tested, the building will be ready for full operational use.
Front Street Maintenance Project
The City of Soledad is excited to announce that the Front Street Maintenance Project is now in its final stages. After months of dedicated work to improve one of our community’s most traveled corridors, the last step remaining is the reinstallation of the crosswalks. This project has focused on ensuring safer and smoother travel for both drivers and pedestrians, while also extending the lifespan of the roadway through essential maintenance and upgrades. The re-striping of crosswalks will complete the project, restoring safe pedestrian access and enhancing overall traffic visibility. The City thanks residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction process. With completion just around the corner, the Front Street Maintenance Project will provide a refreshed, safer, and more accessible roadway for everyone in our community.
