On Wednesday, April 24, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, the Soledad Police Department, in partnership with Lideres Campesinas, La Reina Ice Cream, and the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, will host an event to commemorate Sexual Assault Awareness Month and denim day. This event will be held at Cesar Chavez Park off Front Street and provide various resources.

Denim Day is a campaign that started in 1999 after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans and was accused of helping the rapist remove the jeans, implying consent. Now, we wear denim to show support and help stop victim blaming.
